Interview with Adelina A., industrial management apprenticeship completed in 2021, currently studying for a Bachelor of Arts degree

What do you like about working here?

Because I’ve had the opportunity to try out many different departments within the company, and even as an apprentice / dual-study student, I’m trusted to take on and handle my own tasks independently. No matter what I’m doing, I have a constant line of communication with colleagues who are always ready to help me out with any questions I have.

How does the dual-study programme work?

The dual-study programme runs over 3.5 years, with vocational school, lectures and work all running in parallel.

The first 1.5 years of the dual-study programme involve a commercial apprenticeship in industrial management, with a final examination by the Chamber of Industry & Commerce (IHK) at the end. This all runs alongside the business studies programme, with lectures initially taking place on Fridays and Saturdays. The lecture days then switch to Thursdays and Fridays during the apprenticeship.

At the end of the 3.5 years, you write your dissertation and come out with a Bachelor of Arts.

What attracted you to the dual-study programme?

The dual-study programme offers the ideal balance between theoretical learning and hands-on experience. I knew right from the start that this opportunity to gain practical experience while working towards an academic degree would be perfect for me.

Interview with Donat J.,

What do you find particularly exciting about your apprenticeship?

I love learning about all the different processes in the warehouse and how everything works. Things like how the goods get from production to the warehouse and then from the warehouse to the customer.

What is your relationship like with your colleagues and managers?

We all get on very well! If anyone has any questions, you can always count on there being someone available to answer them. People are always so willing to help each other out here.

What support does SCHULTE offer you during your apprenticeship?

The support we get throughout our apprenticeship is second to none and we are always well-prepared for the exams. We benefit a lot from in-house training sessions, and if working in a particular department is crucial for the exams, then our instructor sets that up.

What prospects do you anticipate after completing your apprenticeship?

I would like to continue working for the company after completing my apprenticeship. I also plan to continue my training and take advantage of whatever career opportunities come my way.
