The bw-online-shop - one of the market leaders for outdoor articles - has risen from the Bundeswehr and leisure shop founded in a basement in 2003. Today, the online retailer employs 50 people at its headquarters in Meiningen, Thuringia, and offers a range of around 35,000 items.
With the continuous increase in demand and the expansion of the product portfolio, the second expansion of the warehouse space has already become necessary since the company moved into its new headquarters in 2017. The premise of the concept for the new hall was to maximise storage space while taking into account the high fire protection requirements.

The initial situation
The bw-online shop ships up to 4,000 parcels a day and now has 150,000 positive shop reviews thanks to its absolute focus on customer satisfaction. For the new warehouse solution with around 18,000 storage locations, it was therefore necessary to maintain process efficiency.
The optimum solution
"The SCHULTE range of accessories really played into our hands with this project. Every item is now stored neatly, clearly and easily accessible," explains Sascha Lichtenthäler, Sales Manager for storage concepts at SCHULTE.
"The fact that the self-supporting aisle construction makes it possible to dispense with large and expensive steel structures is also a huge benefit."
Full customer satisfaction
"I want to continue working with people, so an often inefficient and costly automated solution was out of the question for me. Thanks to the wonderfully flat SCHULTE shelves, we have a comfortable order picking height and have additional levels in the shelving," says Michael Skurt, owner of bw-online-shop.
