The owner-managed automotive retailer Stegelmann managed to accommodate 5,000 sets of wheels in a space 5.5 metres high, 50 metres long and 18.8 metres wide with a two-storey facility. Thanks to the 2.70 metre high levels, all tyres can be reached at hand height. This means that the semi-annual tyre business and its processes can be optimally mapped from a practical and economic point of view.

Project description
Three four-row racks form the core of the system. The width of the hall is optimally utilised with two double-row and one single-row row of racks facing the hall wall.
The sets are stored in pairs behind each other in the four-row racks and next to each other in the double-row racks. The aisle width of 80 cm when the racks are full is sufficient to transport the wheels with the trolley.
Cross aisles ensure short distances, and several sets of wheels are transported to the upper floor level via stairs and a floor lift.
The warehouse consists of a plug-in system that can be used very flexibly, especially for wheel storage.
Four different shelf widths cover all tyre sizes and offer a high degree of variability.
The height can also be changed in 25 mm increments during operation. The shelving levels carry a load of 150 kg and can therefore also store tyres with rims.
A particular advantage of the system:
The shape of the crossbars, on which the weight presses for six months, is adapted to the stored goods and therefore protects the wheels.
Customer benefits
Efficient handling of the high workload during the seasonal peak periods
