3 Solutions for Semi-Automation to Boost Efficiency in Logistics

Modern warehouse logistics is increasingly relying on (partial) automation to combine efficiency, safety and flexibility. SCHULTE’s portfolio offers three entry-level solutions: Pallet shuttles for automated deep-storage, autonomous vehicles such as AGVs for autonomous material flow, and container shuttles (e.g. goods-to-person) for high-performance and ergonomic order picking.

Solution 01:
Automated small-parts storage – container shuttle

Container
preparation:The goods are placed into a predefined container and transferred to the KLS via conveyor systems, AMRs or order-picking stations.

Handover at the lift
The container is automatically identified and fed to the designated lift. The shuttle is positioned on the target storage level.

Storage in the
rack aisle:The shuttle enters the aisle and transports the container to the bin location specified by the WMS/LVS.

Storage location allocation:
The container is placed at its destination and unambiguously linked to the storage location in the system. Its location, stock levels and availability can be viewed transparently at any time.

Solution 02:
Automated deep-storage Pallet Shuttle

The shuttle can be easily manoeuvred into any channel using a forklift.

As with conventional drive-in racking, the pallet is moved into the aisle using a forklift.

The operator uses the control panel to issue the command to store the pallet: the shuttle moves underneath the pallet, lifts it and automatically transports it to the last available position in the channel.

The pallets are pushed together tightly in the channel. The shuttle can then be removed, allowing even the very last storage bay to be occupied – 100% utilisation of the channel!

Solution 03:
Automated order picking – AGV racking systems

In the
warehouse,AMR racks or pallet racks are arranged in high-density blocks.

Transport order
: The merchandise management system transfers a storage or picking order (e.g. shelf/pallet, etc.) to the AMR.

Robot
handling: The AMR navigates to the target position, moves underneath the rack or picks up the pallet, and transports it to the order-picking or consolidation station.

Stocking and Picking
: Picking or stocking is carried out manually or semi-automatically; the AMR then returns the rack or pallet to its original position or to the next storage area.
