The tranquil little town of Waldershof, with barely 5,000 inhabitants, is located in the Upper Palatinate Fichtelgebirge. Despite its international success, CUBE Bikes has remained loyal to this location since it was founded in 1993. The owner-managed specialist for e-bikes and bikes, including clothing and accessories, now employs around 1,000 people. The company always endeavours to make things a little better in every specific area of activity - including its own logistics.
As one of the leading German bicycle manufacturers, CUBE Bikes operates its own innovation centre and test laboratory. Only the highest quality products are produced at the site, packaged ready for transport and shipped to specialist dealers and distributors or stored in the company's own new bicycle logistics centre. The 20,000 m² centre now has space for over 180,000 fully assembled bikes.

The racking system
The installed high-bay storage system with eleven shelf levels and a height of over ten metres is nothing off the shelf. The optimum solution for CUBE Bikes is based on a pallet rack construction that has been combined and optimised with elements of a shelving rack.
The optimal solution
"Even during the needs assessment phase, a standard pallet rack proved to be inefficient for storing the bicycle boxes," explains Schulte Sales Manager Christoph Withake.
"However, thanks to our manufacturing and development expertise in all types of racking systems, we were quickly able to develop a suitable customised configuration."
The Schulte project team presented the various solutions to the customer on site in the form of a sample structure.
Complete customer satisfaction:
"It was a great decision-making aid to be able to try out the various options live at our premises. In the practical test, one solution emerged as the clear favourite!" say the CUBE managers from the logistics department.
The conclusion from CUBE:
"SCHULTE prepared the installation of the first shelving system in a highly professional manner and realised it within a very tight time frame."
